Let’s talk about confidence!
It is an important and it matters.
How so?
Confidence is that little voice in our head that helps us prepare for anything life throws at us. It is our “Not Only Am I Going To Do This, I’m Going To Be The Best At It!” attitude that makes us more likely to ask those questions, move forward, seek opportunities, and jump on any chances that come our way. It is never baking down and gives us a certain sense of pride in every step we take. It’s a very vital emotion and feeling to have, and when it starts lacking in your everyday life, it can cause the complete opposite effect.
So what are the best ways to become more confident and continue that confidence? Here are a few things to remember to get back to your self-assured self.
To start off your confidence is not connected to your success. Things in life may change and from that change we grow, we learn and we gain experience and knowledge that leads us to more self-confidence. If these changes give you anxiety, it is often a normal reaction. This anxiety can lead us to only thinking on the negative and not what could go right in this situation. It’s time to switch that perspective and start living more in the moment and without fear.
To help get rid of that fear we also need to learn that our life’s journey is our own and it should not be influenced by what you see on social media. Keeping up with all those “influencers” you follow are not only going to burn you out, but may even cause you to become depressed when you cannot live the same. Comparing your life with others can be damaging, so why not surround yourself with those who are not competing with you, but lifting you up? A strong sense of belonging and community can boost confidence when you have more than yourself rooting for you to succeed.
Sometimes we can confuse confidence with our comfort zones. Every instance when something unknown occurs, the sweat beings, the stomach starts to turn- these are your body’s natural reactions to being outside that comfort zone. If this starts to happen, give yourself a pep talk and explain that this will create new growth for you and bring you closer to your goals. Perhaps even taking a few deep, measured, long breaths will help to lower your heart rate and blood pressure.
It is time to start treating yourself better!
Yes you!
Sure it is hard to start self-care, but once you do you will wonder how you ever survived without it. Taking care of yourself comes in many forms: eating right, staying hydrated, working out, doing a hobby that you love (you don’t have to be good!), and even getting enough sleep. Imagine you are the protagonist in your own story, because YOU ARE! Would that main character go out into the world ready to face challenges? Your imagination is a powerful tool and sometimes if you can envision it, you can achieve it faster!
When all else fails, talking with someone, perhaps a professional therapist, and seeking support can help to give you back the confidence you were lacking. If you are looking into
