From Rescue to Recovery: Supporting Big Dog Ranch Rescue and the Power of Service Dogs for Veterans

Psychological Affiliates is honored to support the important work of Big Dog Ranch Rescue for another year. Big Dog Ranch Rescue, located in Palm Beach County, is one of the largest cage-free, no-kill dog rescue organizations in the United States. The organization focuses on rescuing dogs from overcrowded shelters, neglect, and abandonment, providing medical care, rehabilitation, behavioral training, and ultimately placement into safe and loving homes. This past weekend, members of the Psychological Affiliates team attended a community event in Palm Beach supporting the organization’s mission.

In addition to its rescue and adoption efforts, Big Dog Ranch Rescue operates a Veteran Service Dog training program, which prepares rescued dogs to become service animals for veterans living with PTSD. Through this program, trained professionals work with rescue dogs to develop the skills necessary to provide emotional support, stability, and companionship for veterans adjusting to life after military service. Programs such as these highlight the meaningful intersection of animal welfare and mental health initiatives.

Big Dog Ranch Rescue also supports military families through initiatives such as the Patriot Pet Lodge, which provides free boarding for active-duty service members, deployed military personnel, and veterans. Through this program, service members can board their pets for up to one year while they fulfill military duties, allowing them to focus on their responsibilities without worrying about their animals' care at home.
